It's been just over two years since Steve Jobs died, and it's probably not surprising that there's more than one action figure of the Apple icon.
Japan's Legend Toys has released its latest ultra-realistic 12-inch figure of Jobs, but this one is the young brash executive from the late 1970s and early 1980s.

The first seven exclusive "Steve Jobs schools" have opened their doors across a number of cities in the Netherlands. Starting from today, schools in the Dutch cities of Sneek, Breda, Almere, Emmen, Heenvliet and Amsterdam will start teaching students according to the principles of the O4NT, or Onderwijs voor een nieuwe tijd (Education for a new era), which emphasizes the role of the iPad in an elementary school environment. Testifying in court yesterday as part of the ongoing e-books price fixing trial, Apple senior vice president for Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue offered some perspective on the history of iBooks and the iBookstore, noting that Steve Jobs was initially opposed to such a project. As shared by AllThingsD, Cue noted that it wasn't until just prior to the launch of the iPad that he was able to convince Jobs of the potential of e-books.
“… When I got my first chance to touch the iPad, I became completely convinced that this was a huge opportunity for us to build the best e-reader that the market had ever seen,” Cue said. “And so I went to Steve and told him why I thought [the iPad] was going to be a great device for ebooks. … and after some discussions he came back and said, you know, I think you’re right. I think this is great, and then he started coming up with ideas himself about what he wanted to do with it and how it would be even better as a reader and store.”
Cue had initially suggested an e-book effort earlier in the fall of 2009, but Jobs felt that the iPhone's screen was too small to allow for a good user experience and that the Mac didn't feel like a reading device. By the time Jobs was on board, it was November, and the iPad was scheduled for a January introduction, giving Cue just weeks to line up the deals needed to build the iBookstore.
In relating the story, Cue noted that getting the iBookstore deals done took on special significance for him, as it was obvious that Jobs was in declining health at the time. Jobs had taken a strong interest in iBooks for iPad, and was committed to showing it off at the iPad media event, giving Cue extra incentive to make sure everything was in place.

Steve Jobs's yacht is making what looks to be its first public appearance in the Dutch city of Aalsmeer, a bit more than one year after his death. The photographs first appeared on the Apple news site One More Thing and closely resemble the description given by Walter Isaacson in his Steve Jobs biography.After our omelets at the café, we went back to his house and he showed me all of the models and architectural drawings. As expected, the planned yacht was sleek and minimalist. The teak decks were perfectly flat and unblemished by any accoutrements. As at an Apple store, the cabin windows were large panes, almost floor to ceiling, and the main living area was designed to have walls of glass that were forty feet long and ten feet high. He had gotten the chief engineer of the Apple stores to design a special glass that was able to provide structural support. By then the boat was under construction by the Dutch custom yacht builders Feadship, but Jobs was still fiddling with the design. "I know that it’s possible I will die and leave Laurene with a half-built boat," he said. "But I have to keep going on it. If I don’t, it’s an admission that I’m about to die."
One image clearly shows "de vries," one of the two shipyards that make up the Feadship custom yacht building company, while another tells us that the yacht is christened "Venus," the Roman goddess of love and beauty. The ship builders were each gifted an iPod shuffle with the ship's name inscribed on the back, along with a note thanking them for their "hard work and craftsmanship."

Apple replaced both its main page and storefront with a moving tribute to Steve Jobs that remembers his passing one year ago today. The short video clip highlights Jobs's achievements and includes pictures and quotes from the Apple founder. The tribute ends with a brief letter from Tim Cook, who asks us all to "reflect on his [Jobs's] extraordinary life and the many ways he made the world a better place."

I’ll admit — at times in my working life, I’ve had to use some imagination to make certain bits of tech or business news seem interesting (not at TechCrunch, of course, because weonly ever write about incredibly interesting things.) But once in a while something comes along that is just perfect as it is.
The story of Kenny the Clown and Steve Jobs’ stolen iPad is one of those things.
So, you’ve heard about how the Palo Alto home belonging to the family of the late Steve Jobs was burgled recently? And more than $60,000 worth of personal items and computers were stolen by a 35-year-old man named Kariem McFarlinwho was eventually caught — and apparently had no idea at first whose home he was breaking into?
Well, it turns out that McFarlin is old buddies with Kenneth Kahn, a San Francisco Bay Area resident who is also known as Kenny the Clown. And after spending hours having a five finger discount free-for-all Chez Jobs, McFarlin was apparently feeling generous — so he gifted Kahn with one of the purloined iPads, a 64GB silver one.

According to a report from MercuryNews, suspects are now in custody for the recent burglary of the Silicon Valley home of Steve Jobs that contained more than $60,000 worth of computers and personal items:
The deceased Apple co-founder’s home on the 2100 block of Waverley Street in Palo Alto was burglarized July 17, said Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Tom Flattery, a member of the high-technology crimes unit…More than $60,000 worth of “computers and personal items” were allegedly stolen, but Flattery declined to say whether they belonged to Jobs, who died last year at the age of 56, or another family member.
Weeks after the burglary on July 17, police arrested Kariem McFarlin, 35, who is currently in jail on $500,000 bail, but other specific details regarding the crime are not available. We know that Laurene Powell Jobs and family were likely not living in the home at the time of the robbery, as during July the property was undergoing renovations with construction barricades and scaffolding surrounding the house.

For the first time in almost five years I could not bring myself to make a video today… I woke up to the sad sad news that Steve Jobs has passed away. Every time I switched that camera on it was impossible for me to complete a video from start to finish. However, I thought it appropriate to share my thoughts with you all, both on the Geekanoids & Technobuffalo websites.
Personally, I started out using boring beige or grey boxes, even the revolutionary Amiga that I loved so much, was that same uninspiring colour. When the Mac was born, my life changed forever. It fulfilled all of my computing needs with such elegance. Then, looking back to my first ever video on The Geekanoids Channel, that too was a case for an Apple product. So without Apple, I would most likely be in a completely different place now, living a completely different life.
I don't mind admitting that when I heard the news I actually cried. The first thing that I envisioned was the picture I have of Steve on my studio wall. Many viewers criticised me, saying that was just plain weird, having a picture of someone I don't even know hanging on my wall. Well, for me that picture is staying… even though Steve is gone, his ambition and drive definitely live on with me. I might not be able to influence the world as much as the great man himself, but whenever I look at that picture I remember what a great person he was. It will give me the strength to strive to make the world a better place and to share as much of my knowledge and love for technology with others.
Steve changed so many people's lives and shaped the way technology is used in everyday life. The way Steve spoke, the way he pushed the boundaries of technology and the people around him, was sometimes looked upon as arrogance. What he was actually doing was living each day as though it was his last. That is why everything he did was so insanely great and that is the way I try to lead my life too.
Next to my late Dad who I lost when I was a teenager, Steve Jobs was, and still is the second most inspirational person in my life. My thoughts go out to Steve's family, friends and work colleagues. I know how much it hurts to lose someone so close to you and I truly feel your sadness.

It seems like the Twitter universe has gone crazy again, after somebody at CBS tweeted that the ex-CEO of Apple Inc had died.
The channel then apologised for tweeting out news that they had yet to confirm. This is really bad of them and shows how low journalism has changed, with this "Must be first attitude".
Lazar, one of the show’s executive writers tweeted, “On interest of all of us during @disruptgroup we unequivocally apologize for a oversight that was tweeted progressing today.-EP/ Host @WhatsTrending”
I want to go on the record as saying that this type of journalism is irresponsible and very upsetting for many. On a personal note it is Steve who has inspired me to do many things and thus I take it very personally.
It is also tweets like the one shown below that really annoy me, in fact they infuriate me. The likes of Gizmodo do really stupid reporting sometime and should learn to write article that endear themselves to readers, not anger them.
I personally hope the news is not true, but will report in a sensitive way once proper news comes in.
Just reporting a tip I was given, nothing more, Steve Jobs seen at Stanford Hospital 29th June 2011. I sincerely hope he is OK.

A sad day for Apple and for anyone who loves and follows the happenings at the company. Breaking news just a few moments ago, Apple released an email sent by Steve Jobs to all Apple employees (see screenshot, click to enlarge). It details that he is taking a medical leave of absence and has left Tim Cook in charge of the day to day business at Apple HQ.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs today sent the following email to all Apple employees:
Team,
At my request, the board of directors has granted me a medical leave of absence so I can focus on my health. I will continue as CEO and be involved in major strategic decisions for the company.
I have asked Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day to day operations. I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011.
I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can. In the meantime, my family and I would deeply appreciate respect for our privacy.
