Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a DomiCopter! Scooters and cars could one day be swapped for 21st century flying machines following exciting technological research undertaken by Domino’s Pizza.
The DomiCopter is a lightweight flight aircraft, capable of travelling vast distances at high altitudes all whilst carrying Domino’s pizzas.
Sci-fi comics and movies have illustrated the next generation of flying machines for years. The DomiCopter can potentially climb hundreds of metres to reach its destination without the need to refuel, whilst also being incredibly eco-friendly – meaning a revolutionary way to deliver food.
As shown in the video, which is now available at http://bit.ly/GDCopter pizzas would be carried by the DomiCopter in the Domino’s Heatwave bags. The bags, which were a key breakthrough in Domino’s pizzas retaining their heat, could now be utilised with another technological breakthrough – the DomiCopter.
“At Dominos we’re always looking to innovate and find new ways to deliver our pizza and a DomiCopter could fit the bill perfectly,” said Simon Wallis Sales and Marketing Director at Domino’s. “We are the number one pizza delivery company and we are committed to staying in that position. What better way to totally avoid the traffic than to fly – if anything this will now make us even quicker! We think it’s a great way to reinforce that Domino’s go to more lengths than anyone to deliver great pizza.”
A Domino’s Flight Academy is also rumoured to be in the pipeline should the DomiCopter delivery service take off.
Barnes & Noble announced today that it plans to bring its Nook devices and digital content to the UK this autumn. Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight will both be available in UK stores during mid-October according to the company, with yet to be named UK partners. William J. Lynch, Barnes & Noble CEO, says he is confident about the upcoming launch in the UK. "We are proud to be able to offer our top-rated line of NOOK reading devices and our award-winning digital bookstore to the discerning and highly educated consumers in the UK." A UK version of the Nook Store will also be available in the autumn, featuring 2.5 million digital titles — with top-selling UK books included.
Amazon announced a similar deal in the UK earlier this year, partnering with Waterstones to sell Kindle devices in UK brick and mortar stores. It's not clear whether Barnes & Noble will partner will also partner with Waterstones, the company plans to detail its partnerships later this year. A UK deal for Nook devices is the first major development since Microsoft and Barnes & Noble announced a strategic partnership to spin off the digital and College businesses and create a dedicated Nook Windows 8 application.

Whilst we all wait (very) patiently for Apple to bring us their version of the tablet or netbook Mac that we all want, Archos have announced a very interesting device. Take a look at the Archos 9 PC Tablet below, running Windows 7, with its Atom processor and 80GB or 120GB hard drive.
Look down the left hand side of the screen and you find a 1.3 megapixel webcam, plus shortcuts buttons for setup, on-screen keyboard and left/right mouse buttons. Along the right side is the power button and an optical navigator for moving your pointer around the 9-inch screen. There is also stereo speakers and a mic. That screen looks quite nice too. It is a resistive touch screen, with multi-touch, so you can use it with your finger or a stylus.
For multimedia nuts it has a kick stand at the back, so you can sit it on a desk for movie watching. It also sports twin antennas for Digital TV reception on the go. This includes HD reception with recording too. Optional 3.5G sim support for internet on the go, all bundled for £450-£499, not too shabby.
Now, if Apple take this concept one step further and add their design flare, this would take such a device to another level. Imagine a sleek aluminum shell, wi-fi, bluetooth, iPhone OS with a rear facing 3-megapixel camera too. iChatAV right out of the box. iPod dock connector for charging and displaying content on your HD TV. This could be one serious piece of kit. Being an Apple OS lover, the only thing holding me back from this Archos device is Windows 7... that just sucks!

Coinciding with the launch, AlertMe released results from a survey exploring people’s relationships with their homes and the community. Almost half (47%) place considerable faith in their local community to give them reassurance and security while maintaining little or no security measures of their own. Britain’s twenty-something’s were amongst the most concerned (49% of 18-24 year olds) about home security. T3 Awards 2007 recognised the Apple iPhone as the 'Most Anticipated Gadget' and the iPod as the 'Top Computer Gadget'.
