I love my lighting, in fact I spend a good few hours happily tinkering with my studio lights. A few months back you will have also seen the addition of a new lamp in the studio with an Edison Bulb installed. The filament just looks so cool. You can see it in action in this video.

AOC goes ultra-sharp with 28ʺ Ultra HD monitor

Amsterdam, 27 May 2014 – The trends in the monitor market go to larger screen sizes and higher resolutions. AOC now combines both of these trends: With the u2868Pqu, the display specialist launches a 28ʺ (71.1 cm) monitor with the stunningly high Ultra HD resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels at a 60 Hz refresh rate. Ultra HD: See every detail
CAD/CAM professionals, architects, engineers and power users at home – all will benefit from the finely detailed pictures delivered by the u2868Pqu’s latest TN panel technology. Thanks to the Real 8-bit +FRC arrangement, more than a billion colours can be produced. With the Ultra HD resolution (3840 x 2160), over 8.29 million pixels are displayed in a 16:9 aspect, equalling four times the pixel amount of Full HD panels. The 28ʺ model delivers UHD resolution with a refresh rate of full 60 Hz. With a pixel response time of 1 ms only, the u2868Pqu is even perfect for working on or watching fast-paced action video clips or enjoying games. Delivering a luminosity of 300 cd/m², the UHD model is well-suited for desks with bright ambient light. Ultra convenient
The u2868Pqu boasts a classic design with a finely texturised surface in black. iPad 5 May Slim Down Thanks to More Efficient LEDs

The fifth generation iPad may be going on a diet of sorts as one analyst believes Apple is working on a new LED lighting system that would allow the popular tablet to slim down.

Speaking with CNET, Paul Semenza, an analyst at NPD DisplaySearch, stated that he felt Apple was looking to slim down the fifth generation of the iPad in multiple ways. ”It’s likely that part of the thinner/lighter design will be reducing the size of the LED backlight, partly by making the display more efficient and partly by using more efficient LEDs,” Semenza said.

NPD DisplaySearch has contacts throughout the display supply chain, but it sounds as though Semenza may be speaking more from a speculative point of view than from some form of evidence.

A back panel that appeared in Jan. and alleged to be a component for the iPad 5 did seem to indicate that the next version would be trimming down to look more like the iPad mini. And a leak from this week that is supposedly the front panel showed thinner bezels along the side, which would also support the idea that Apple is playing around with the display.

There is no question that Apple is obsessed with making its devices as thin and lightweight as possible, so don’t be surprised if at least some of these come true when the iPad 5 hits the shelves.
